NOROHY commitments
NOROHY’s priority is to contribute to the sustainability of crops and the deployment of responsible practices for more resilient communities. Our collaboration with the agricultural sector enables us to meet the challenges facing producers and processors. The issues are numerous: sustainability and development of vanilla cultivation, crop diversification… But also sources of income, seasonal labor and inadequate infrastructure are just some of the issues they face. Through its partners, NOROHY works with more than 2,500 producers organized into associations or agricultural cooperatives. Organic certification is one of the tools we use to guarantee the traceability and quality of our pods. Last but not least, we take concrete action by co-financing local projects. In 2023, NOROHY co-financed the reconstruction of a bridge. As a result, people in the Morafeno region can now travel freely and safely. Other projects are being formalized for the coming years… we’ll tell you more soon…
Sustainably reducing our environmental footprint is an ongoing concern. Our products are based on virtuous principles. These include clean label, additive-free recipes, eco-designed packaging, recyclability of packaging, product shelf life… We are carrying out our first carbon assessment in 2024 to identify our main areas for progress and decarbonize our business. NOROHY is now a member of Windcoop, the 1st socially responsible and militant cooperative for the transport of goods by sail. In this way, we are helping to open up a new, low-carbon shipping route. This cooperative sailing cargo ship project will transport our vanilla beans more quickly. And all this with a 90% reduction inCO2 emissions by 2025! We are fully committed to this project, and are making a €300K contribution. This sum is earmarked for the construction of the boat and the purchase of shares. A way of getting involved in the governance of the cooperative.
Our hands-on approach has created a real rapport with chefs and amateur pastry chefs alike. Our ambition is to build on this privileged relationship to encourage those involved in gastronomy to make more enlightened use of vanilla and aromatic plants. That’s why we try to pass on to our customers the challenges facing our industries. We share our way of working with our partners. Finally, we value the work of our women and men, enabling us to offer you high-quality products.
