Flavor hunters and Norohy partnership
Chasseurs de saveurs a lasting partnership…
Chasseurs de Saveurs: deep roots in Mexico
Chasseurs de Saveurs is above all a story of passion and terroir. Since 2016, two agricultural engineers Romain Javaux and Nicolas Terrien, have been sharing their experience to develop the
This region is close to the birthplace of Planifolia vanilla, the original variety of vanilla. It is distinguished by its subtle notes of prune and cocoa.
They promote environmentally-friendly farming practices.
NOROHY: shared values and a common vision
Since its creation, NOROHY has been committed to sourcing quality ingredients, while respecting people and nature. For NOROHY, each vanilla pod tells a story. That of a terroir, a producer, a commitment. That’s why the brand has chosen to collaborate with Chasseurs de Saveurs. Together, they share strong values: respect for biodiversity, support for local communities and a constant quest for quality. NOROHY wants to go even further, by becoming a true “guardian of vanilla”.
A sustainable and innovative partnership: scientific and social objectives
Firstly, the shadehouse will serve as an open-air laboratory. Studies on technical itineraries will be carried out to better understand plant growth and cross-pollination. Different
This will be followed by an organoleptic and chromatographic evaluation (HPLC scan). This analysis will enable us to study the sensory qualities of the different vanilla species. In Mexico, natural pollination generates numerous aromatic sub-varieties, often unrecognized. Thanks to this study, it will be possible to better select the most promising varieties. NOROHY’s aim is to maximize the quality of the pods and enhance the aromatic richness of the Mexican terroir.
An edible forest with social impact
Our partnership is not limited to this already ambitious shadehouse project… It extends to the development of 25 hectares of edible forest. The aim is to plant 7,500 vanilla trees in Jalcomulco, with cuttings supplied by the shadehouse. These plants are distributed to local growers to enrich their forests. They are also accompanied by fruit trees, shade trees and cash crops to diversify species and production. In this way, cinnamon, pepper, ceiba, cedar, achiote/roucou, mango and guanabana will coexist in the same areas. This project will diversify sources of income, while preserving the local ecosystem.
For NOROHY, supporting Chasseurs de Saveurs also means :
- Help safeguard endemic Mexican vanilla varieties.
- Get involved in the AMEBOSCO network, which brings together 500 producer families and promotes edible forests.
- Supporting and sustaining the organic vanilla industry in Mexico.
An inspiring model for the entire industry
The partnership between NOROHY and Chasseurs de Saveurs shows that it is possible to combine excellence, innovation and responsibility. Through concrete actions, they are preserving a local heritage, while supporting local communities. NOROHY and Chasseurs de Saveurs prove that together, we can become the guardians of vanilla… and of taste.
