What is organic BOURBON vanilla extract from Madagascar NOROHY?

Liquid vanilla extract is a liquid product derived from vanilla beans. Its purpose is to easily flavor a sweet recipe. It is in no way a “synthetic” chemical flavoring. Vanilla extract is also known as natural vanilla flavor.

Vanilla now comes in many forms: beans, powder, extract… Easy to store and measure, vanilla extract provides instant flavoring. What’s more, this extract requires no technical skills: no vanilla bean to split, scrape or infuse… It saves an incredible amount of time! Just a few spoonfuls of vanilla concentrate bring all the aromatic complexity of Madagascar vanilla to your desserts. Last but not least, vanilla extract is liquid, so it’s easy to mix into your preparations.

How is NOROHY vanilla extract made?

NOROHY makes this liquid Bourbon vanilla extract from mature organic vanilla beans. Would you like to know our secret? Our recipe is revealed: vanilla and cane sugar syrup… Nothing more! Our natural vanilla aroma is obtained by simply macerating the beans in alcohol baths. Once the alcohol has evaporated, the oleoresin is decanted and filtered. The vanilla beans used are then said to be “exhausted”. This means that their aromas have been extracted. However, their seeds are incorporated into our extract to flatter the eye and add a little crunch. Oleoresin and seeds are then blended with organic cane sugar syrup to become our vanilla extract. Pure oleoresin would be too concentrated and difficult to dose.

NOROHY does not use trading to source its vanilla beans. We source our own beans through long-term partnerships with Madagascan vanilla growers and processors. To this end, we visit them several times a year to accompany them in their virtuous practices and to select our beans. This is why we are able to trace every single bean back to the village where it was produced!

Rigorously selected ingredients

Vanilla beans are rigorously selected according to exacting criteria. For an intense extract with vanilla and woody notes, NOROHY selects mature vanilla beans. Our beans are therefore self-sufficient: no flavorings, flavor enhancers or caramel. In our recipe, only vanilla and organic cane sugar!

Vanillin: incomparable aromatic intensity

Vanillin is the main aromatic compound in Madagascar’s vanilla planifolia. It is this molecule that gives vanilla its characteristic fragrance. NOROHY has therefore set itself the target of a high vanillin content in its vanilla extract. This is made possible by rigorous selection of the beans used. In fact, the beans are selected according to precise specifications governing moisture content, extraction quality and vanillin content. Finally, to ensure transparency on vanillin content, we indicate it on the vanilla extract label.

A clean-label recipe

Our organic Bourbon vanilla liquid extract contains no colorants or additives. We use only the essential ingredients. The recipe contains only concentrated organic vanilla extract and organic cane sugar syrup. We call this a "clean label" recipe, with only a short, clear list of ingredients for confident consumption.

Dosage

NOROHY suggests adding 20 to 40 g of organic Bourbon liquid vanilla extract from Madagascar per kilo of preparation, depending on the desired intensity. Aromatization is instantaneous. Store your bottle in a cool place for up to 3 months after opening.
