Tunisia, and more specifically the Cap Bon region, is renowned for its citrus cultivation. Also known as the bigarade, the bitter orange thrives in this temperate climate and rich soil. The men and women who work here pass on their local craftsmanship from generation to generation. Indeed, this region is the historical birthplace of the bitter orange tree. NOROHY was looking for a traditional local industry combining the cultivation and distillation of this fragrant flower. So it was only natural that we should turn to this fabulous terroir for our edible orange blossom water.
NOROHY has thus chosen to rely on a family-run agricultural chain for its edible orange blossom water. Traceable and sustainable, NOROHY organic orange blossom water is also distilled from fresh bitter orange blossoms. These are patiently picked by hand, one by one. They are then steam distilled for the first time, just a few hours after picking, at the place of production. In this way, we preserve the freshness of the flowers and their aromas.
We have therefore opted for a second distillation, in France, for a floral water with a higher concentration of essence. NOROHY can therefore guarantee the essence content of each batch at bottling. This is clearly indicated on every bottle.
Orange blossom water is a traditional ingredient of the Mediterranean basin. It can be used in cosmetics as well as in cooking. Add 20 to 40g of this floral water to your recipes, depending on the desired intensity.
In pastry-making, this floral water perfumes sweet recipes in particular. Marshmallows, crêpes, creams, mousses, cookies, cakes and fruit preparations are all enhanced with delicate floral notes. You can also naturally flavor your doughnuts, bugnes, oreillettes, brioches or madeleines… Orange blossom water lends a subtle floral and citrus fragrance to the finest desserts.
For a touch of freshness, make your own ice creams and sorbets with NOROHY organic orange blossom water. You’ll discover delicious, regressive notes of almond blended with a hint of citrus. The gentle fragrance of this edible floral water makes it an indispensable ingredient in summer ice cream recipes.
NOROHY organic orange blossom water is also perfect for use in your homemade chocolates: mousses, ganaches and fruit fillings. Imagine succulent combinations with this fresh floral and citrus fragrance.
Floral water has always been used in cocktails and drinks. Diluted with water, it becomes a refreshing drink in summer. In winter, it can also be enjoyed as an herbal tea. It is also used in many cocktails for its gourmand, floral and slightly acid notes.
In savory cuisine, edible orange blossom water is used in many dishes, notably with carrots, white meats and fish.
Orange blossom water is traditionally combined with honey or dried fruit. This combination is also found in oriental pastries with pine nuts, pistachios or almonds… Citrus recipes are also an obvious choice, as are those with red fruit, to support the tart notes of this floral water. Finally, peach, melon and apricot also go well with orange blossom. Finally, to reinforce these tangy notes, try a gourmet alliance with rhubarb…
As such, we are committed to supporting producers who use organic farming methods, without pesticides or chemical inputs. In this way, we favor sustainable production methods to preserve biodiversity and limit our impact.
